Dear Members, Associates and Friends,
The Minnesota AWWA Board of Directors has determined that a virtual conference is the best and safest option for the 2020 Annual Conference. This was not an easy decision, as the conference is a critical source of networking, business development, knowledge-sharing, and camaraderie for everyone in our waterworks family. Nevertheless, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, economic conditions and travel restrictions, and above all the concern for your health and safety, the Board determined that this was our best option.
We are currently working on plans to bring key elements of the conference to you in virtual ways this fall. These will include technical sessions delivered via webinar, virtual networking events, electronic voting, and creative ways to allow our sponsors and vendors to continue to showcase their products and services. This year may be different, but we will strive to make this an opportunity to bring the conference to you in new ways. We are working with the Minnesota Department of Health and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to make sure that contact hours are available to attendees.
We will also continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and if there are ways we could include smaller, in-person elements of the conference we will endeavor to do so; however, the well-being of our attendees will remain the deciding factor.
If you booked a room in one of our conference hotels, your reservation will be automatically cancelled and you should receive an email notification. If you booked in a different hotel, or booked a room and do not receive a cancellation notice, please contact the hotel directly to cancel your reservation.
We will continue to communicate with you via email and post the most up-to-date information on our website. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been working to make the conference a success, and for your efforts to work through the most challenging of times! We look forward to sharing our ‘reinvented’ conference experience with you this fall.
