The 2018 Surface Water Treatment Workshop will be held May 1 -3, 2018 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Moorhead, Minnesota. Day 1 (May 1) morning agenda includes the Surface Water Treatment Primer & Treatment Review taught by Dr. Delvin DeBoer, AE2S.  The afternoon session is Regulatory with presentation on the National Perspective on Upcoming Regulations; Proactive Situational Communication; and a Regulatory Panel including people from Minnesota, North and South Dakota. In the evening there will be a Student Poster Session with hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.

Day 2 (May 2) there will be two concurrent sessions in the morning; Treatment, and Case Studies. The Treatment Session includes: Removal of Emerging PFOS/PFA Alternatives; Membrane Clean in Place Optimization; Mid-Dakota RWS Impact of Backwash Recovery Improvements; Biological Filtration for Surface Water Treatment; and Something You May Not Know About Ozone/AOP. The Case Studies Session includes: Ceramic Membrane Case Study Backwash Waste Recovery for Potable Use of Surface Water; Southwest Pipeline Project Dickinson Lime Softening w/a Polymer; Eliminating 80 Hours of Intake Maintenance; Capturing Lost Phosphorus by Enhanced Bioretention Cells; and Rebuilding Filters & Converting to GAC.

The afternoon sessions are Supply and Distribution, and Algal Toxins.  The Supply & Distribution Session includes: Distribution System Water Quality & Stability; GIS and Asset Management From the Ground Up; Recent Concentrate Discharges and Impacts to Rivers & Future Planning; and Evaluating Water Quality from Source to Tap: Using Hydraulic Modeling, Statistical Analysis and Other Tools to Improve Distribution System Water Quality.  The Algal Toxins Session includes: Harmful Algal Blooms; Evaluating Treatment Techniques for Algal Toxins; and Examining Algal Community to Understand Eutrophication Red River.

In the evening there will be a brewery tour. Bus transportation to the brewery is being explored for which there could be a small fee. If you are interested in the tour if it is offered you must indicate that on the registration form.

Day 3 (May 3) has a morning session on State Trends which includes speakers from Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.
