The Minnesota Section American Water Works Association will be holding a three-day water operator school Tuesday - Thursday, April 3 - 5, 2018, at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center. The three-day school will be worth 16 contact hours. The registration fee is $245 ($280 after March 17, 2018).

April 3:  Welcome; Introductions; The Secret Achievement Formula: Motivation You Can Use, Michael Monroe Kiefer, Powermind Systems Inc.; What Happens When...., Sgt. Tom Subject, Minneapolis Bomb Squad; GPS Locating of Assets Travis Slangen and Jeff Aldinger, City of Bloomington; GIS in the Field, city of Apple Valley; Communicating with the Public, Stew Thornley, MDH; Tanks: Coatings, Prep, Failure, and Repair, Shawn Mulhern, KLM Engineering; SCADA - Proper Redundancies; Minneapolis Fridley Plant Remodel; Brooklyn Center Water Plant.

April 4:  Guest speaker during breakfast:  Al Batt, Humorist.  There will be off-site tours offered to Waterous, St. Paul Tunnel Tour, and two others still in the works.  After lunch:  Cathodic Protection, Marty Iozzo, General Corrosion Control; Safety Signs, Brent Massmann, City of Eagan; Main Breaks, Valley Rich; Irrigation, Sam Bauer, U of M; Conservation, Rick Wahlen, City of Eden Prairie; Oakdale Watermain Break and Communications, Shawn Nelson, City of Oakdale.  There will be the C & D Exam Study Class offered both in the morning and in the afternoon.  There will also be a Class A & B Study Hall available both morning and afternoon.  THIS IS NOT AN EXAM PREP CLASS!!!  THIS IS DESIGNED TO HELP OPERATORS WHO HAVE ALREADY STUDIED FOR THE EXAMS.  PLEASE BRING YOUR STUDY MATERIALS WITH YOU.  THERE WILL BE SOMEONE AVAILABLE THAT DAY IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS.

April 5:  Product Expo; Hydrant Hysteria Demonstration; Gimmicks and Gadgets; and Mini Sessions.  Drawings will be held for Water for People prizes during the Product Expo.

The Drinking Water Operator Exam will be offered on Thursday, April 5 at 8:30 am at the Earle Brown Heritage Center.  Exam applications must be submitted 15 days prior to the exam.  Please contact Noel Hansen at 651-201-4690 or with questions regarding the exam.
