i. Discussion of this item postponed until next meeting.
i. At the Annual Conference yellow ribbons will be attached to the nametags of people who are Young Professional committee members. Anyone who has been to an YP committee meeting will get a yellow ribbon. Doug will let Steve Schneider know that a total of 50 yellow ribbons marked “Young Professionals” will be sufficient for the next few years. Dave will mention significance of yellow ribbons at the YP committee introduction speech on Wednesday at the Annual conference.
ii. Jeff will contact John Crooks about including the YP Meet & Greet into the program schedule and about permission to have an insert to the conference program with information about the Meet & Greet and a description of the yellow ribbons. Inserts will be printed on yellow paper to match ribbons.
iii. Membership committee will share their booth with the YP committee. We will need committee members to staff the booth during the vendor exhibit at this year’s conference. Dave send out an email asking for volunteers to staff the booth.
i. Dave will distribute draft brochure file to YP contact list for feedback. The description of a young professional will be changed from “up to 35 years old” to “less than 15 years of experience” to be more inclusive. The brochure design is adequate. Brian will obtain costs for printing 100 color copies. Brochures to be available on website, at conference booth, and at YP Meet & Greet.
i.
The YP Meet & Greet (M&G) will be held
Wednesday from 5 – 6 PM at the Owatonna Holiday Inn during the conference. M&G will be in the boardroom with two
large round tables and a buffet table.
Chris will set up reservation with the hotel. The MAC social event directly follows the M&G, so the YP
group can all go there together – will be more inviting for first-time
attendees. The YP Committee will pay
$200-300 of the M&G cost as budgeted, and American Ductile Iron Pipe has
offered to cover the rest of the cost.
i. Meeting location, date and time. See below.
ii. Staffing booth with membership committee. Discussed above
iii. Other ideas. A YP mailing sign-up sheet will be available at booth and Meet & Greet.
iv. Annual Conference Golf Outing: The YP decided it would be fun to golf together. So far Dave, Jeff, Chris and Jason will be golfing. Let’s get more people if we can. Call any YP member if you are interested.
v. Election of Committee Officers. Committee members agreed that for now a Chair and Past-Chair would be sufficient for officers. A new Chair will be appointed each year. Past Chair will mentor chair and do work of the secretary/treasurer.
