World of Water Drawing Contest
Brian
distributed at the meeting a draft registration form flier promoting the
competition. Brian recommends calling
this project “World of Water Drawing Contest” to avoid confusion with the Fresh
Ideas posters. John volunteered to take
the lead to organize the competition with the help of Chris.
The
preliminary plan is to hold the contest this fall after kids are back in school
and see what amount of involvement we receive.
The budget for the competition is $250.
We will include a similar budget amount for next year. We plan to hold
next year’s contest in the spring so that we can make calendars with the
winning drawings to sell/distribute at the Annual Conference in fall 2008. Michelle will talk to Bernie Bullert about
the possibility of coordinating the competition with Water for People and World
Water Day. World Water day is held on
March 22.
Brian has a list of
teachers who have participated with the Minnesota Department of Health’s water
training program. We received permission
from the MDH to contact the teachers regarding educational activities. However,
the main focus for promoting the contest will be AWWA members and their kids,
grandkids, etc.
