  1. Past Action Items

    1. Host 3 facilities tours per year.  Plan for next facility tour.  Possible future facility tours include the Waterous manufacturing facility, Eden Prairie Water Plant, Tonka Equipment facility, Summit Brewery, and Minneapolis Water Works.  The idea of a joint tour with the Wisconsin YP branch was introduced.
    2. Have a presence at the MN Section Conference including a booth, posters, etc.  David Brown will lead effort.  Discuss nametags for Young Professionals.  Volunteers to staff YP/membership booth.  Conference nametags will not have a dot or ribbon to signify Young Professionals.  Instead, only members of the YP Committee will have a ribbon stating “Young Professionals,” or some other marking.  Space in the conference program will be needed to explain the ribbons and advertise our booth.  This will allow other young professionals to locate and approach YP Committee members.   Doug will ask Jon Eaton about making YP ribbons and space in the conference program.
    3. Create a YP Committee brochure including purpose statement, goals, etc.        Brian Zinnel will lead effort.  Draft copies available from Brian.  Brian distributed draft copies to attendees.  Comments included having contact information for Dave.  The brochure will contain general information about the YP Committee and will not include advertising of the Section Conference booth or meet and greet.  Brian will email brochure file to all on contact list for feedback.
    4. Chose a community service project.  This is tabled until September 2004 meeting.
    5. Host four social events per year plus the MN Section Conference meet and greet for young professionals.  Meet and greet will be held in the evening at a small suite at the conference.  Jason Janisch will lead effort.  Discuss meet and greet.  Discussion concluded that meet and greet should be located in the conference hotel or nearby and should be scheduled separately from the MAC social event.  Chris introduced the idea of company sponsorship for the meet and greet.  Chris will discuss with Jason Janisch and explore the possibility that American Cast Iron Pipe Company hosts this first meet and greet.
    6. Draft a YP Committee purpose statement.  Completed.
    7. Web site.  Need someone to work with Stew Thornley to get Young Professionals Committee information on AWWA MN Section web site.
