Facility Tours
1)
DeZurik / Cold Springs Brewery Tour – August 23rd
was selected as a tentative date for the tour.
Also, the committee decided to axe the brewery tour and tour DeZurik
only. The brewery tour will be
considered for future tours. Brian
Zinnel agreed to put together a flier for the tour.
2)
The committee discussed future tours and it was reiterated
that the goal is to have one (1) out-of-state tour and one (1) metro tour each
year.
B.
Community Service Project
1)
Water Tower Competition – Consensus opinion was to table the
Water Tower Competition until further notice.
2)
World of Water Poster Competition – Brent Massmann and Aleisha Kiley have been working on
details surrounding the poster competition and have been in contact with Chris
Glassing. One suggestion was to
coordinate with the MN Dept of Health and AWWA as they have a running program
educating teachers on water related topics.
C.
Social Event
1)
Brewery Tour – Cancelled (see above)
2)
Reception Mixer (after Harbor Cruise), AWWA Conference - Brian
Zinnell and Jeff Yeschick are jointly working on organizing the mixer.
3)
Texas Hold’em Tournament – Jason Janisch is organizing the First
Annual Texas Hold’em Tournament sponsored by the YP Committee. First thoughts are to have a $20 per person
buy-in with a 48-person maximum number of players.
D.
Policies & Procedures update
1)
Draft Guidance Document – Committee voted on and
approved the guidance document as is.
It was agreed to make major changes on an annual basis…minor changes as
needed. Committee agreed to eliminate
list of members and contact info from the guidance document as this information
can be readily found on the YP website.
E.
Sub-Committee Reports
1)
Membership (Todd Butz) – Todd
discussed the primary goal of the membership committee is to contact and
recruit younger individuals in the water industry. Todd is organizing a group panel of individuals in the water
industry to talk to either high schools and/or college students regarding
career paths. The goal for timing of
the panel is early this fall. Brian
Zinnell added that there is no reason why the speakers on the panel can’t be
those from outside the YP committee. Todd
asked that members contact him if interested or if they know of someone
interested to sit on the panel.
2)
Social (Brian Zinnel) – See above notes regarding the Cold
Spring Brewery tour.
3)
Public Affairs (Drew Hess) – No
report
4)
Fresh Ideas (Brad Forester) – Slot times for the Fresh Ideas
competition have been secured at the AWWA Annual Fall Conference…now we just
need some applicants. Applications for
the competition have been distributed to the YP Committee for forwarding on to
interested parties. Professors at the
Univ of MN and Saint Cloud Tech have received applications for purposes of
forwarding on to their students.
