Meeting Agenda

 

  1. Sign in and Introductions
    1. Attendees included Dave Brown, Brian Zinnel, Paul Morken, Jeff Yeschick, Drew Hess and Todd Butz
  2. Unfinished Business
    1. 2004/2005 action items. 

                                                               i.      Host 3 or 4 facility tours per year. 

1.      Two tours completed this year

2.      Proposed Cold Springs Brewery tour. Brian will contact Pat Shea to see if we can get a tour lined up for some time in late August.  We will combine a social along with the tour.

                                                             ii.      Create a presence at the MN Section conference for young professionals.  

1.      Presentations directed at YPs in program – nothing planned for this year.  Discussed options and ideas for what we want to accomplish next year.

2.      YP nametags. We still have left over yellow ribbons which will be attached to YP committee members at the Annual Fall Conference in Duluth.

3.      Events

a.       Annual YP committee meeting and Annual Conference Meet and Greet

                                                                                                                                       i.      Set dates and times. Publish meeting and meet and greet in program. Determine conference room location. YP meet and greet was set for Thursday, October 6, 2005 at 5 to 6 pm. This is immediately before the Thursday night social for the banquet. The YP committee meeting will be 4:30 to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 5, 2005, which is immediately before the MAC social.

                                                                                                                                     ii.      Budget for food and beverages. Todd will contact Chris Glassing to find out how much we spent last year.  Todd will find a sponsor for the meet and greet and recommend how much we should include in our budget for meet and greet expenses.

                                                                                                                                    iii.      Who is interested in officer positions? Dave will contact Doug to determine if Doug’s schedule will permit him to be vice chair after his term as chair is up. No one present expressed an interest in officer positions.

                                                          iii.      Community service project

1.      Possible projects previously discussed. MathCOUNTS, Future Cities Competition, Habitat for Humanity.

2.      New project idea.

a.       Water Tower Competition. Dave briefed the committee on a water tower competition that was put on in the Florida AWWA Section.  Drew offered to work on this project.  Dave will send Drew a powerpoint file from the AWWA annual conference on the water tower competition. 

                                                           iv.      Host four social events per year plus the MN Section conference meet and greet. 

1.      Two social events completed.

2.      Recommendations for other social events.  We decided to have the next social following the brewery tour. Drew suggested a Saints game as an option.

    1. YP Committee Budget - $500 budget for last year

                                                               i.      Social events – Annual conference meet and greet. Todd to call Chris and come up with a recommendation for a budget.

                                                             ii.      Advertising/publishing – Nothing planned for upcoming year.

                                                            iii.      Water Tower Competition – Drew to propose a budget for the competition.

                                                           iv.      Scholarships

1.      Four (4) single day scholarships to Thursday of annual conference. Two (2) operators and two (2) manufacturers and/or associates. Dave suggested we get a YP member on the Scholarship committee so we can help Young Professionals get an opportunity to go to various events, training programs.

                                                             v.      Dave to call Jon Eaton to determine how much YP committee has spent so far this year.

  1. New Business
    1. Scholarship committee – looking for two YP members. Paul expressed interest in Scholarship committee.  He will go to the MN Section website to look at their strategic plan, objectives and what they do, before deciding.

                                                               i.      Call Jon Eaton about YP expenditures to date.

                                                             ii.      Call Doug Klamerus about vice chair/secretary position

                                                            iii.      Forward water tower competition presentation on to Drew

    1. Paul: Decide whether to join Scholarship committee.
    2. Drew: Come up with ideas and steps needed to move water tower competition project forward.
    3. Todd: Call Chris Glassing about last year’s meet and greet. Propose meet and greet budget at next YP meeting.
    4. Brian: Contact Pat Shea about Cold Spring Brewery tour and social.
