Meeting Minutes

7:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.

  1. Approval/revision of minutes of last meeting.  Minutes approved.

 

  1. Approval/revision of agenda for today’s meeting.  Agenda revised and then approved.

 

  1. Past Action Items

 

    1. Host 3-4 facilities tours per year.  Robyn and Karla to lead effort on next facility tour.  Possible next tour to be in mid-July.  It was decided that we wanted an afternoon tour combined with a social event in the evening. Robyn will contact Ed Sorenson about possible tour at Eden Prairie Water Plant.
    2. Have a presence at the MN Section Conference including a booth, posters, etc.  David Brown will lead effort.  Dave will contact John Berrigan about how we could use the membership committee poster session space at the 2004 MN Annual Conference. Dave will contact Chad Hill about the Fresh Ideas program.
    3. Create a YP Committee brochure including purpose statement, goals, etc.  Brian Zinnel will lead effort.  Dave will contact Brian to see where he is and what is planned next.
    4. Chose a community service project.  One project will be completed per year.  Possible projects include math mentoring, Engineering Week, Future Cities Competition (7-8 graders), Habitat for Humanity, Mississippi River cleanup, etc.  The first project will be chosen at an upcoming meeting.  This issue will tabled until September 2004 meeting.
    5. Host four social events per year plus the MN Section Conference meet and greet for young professionals.  Meet and greet will be held in the evening at a small suite at the conference.  Jason Janisch will lead effort.  Jason will make calls about the meet and greet. Dave to email YP contact lists provided by AWWA National and MN Section.
    6. Draft a YP Committee purpose statement.  David Brown and Doug Klamerus will lead effort.  Robyn will work with Doug Klamerus to finalize the purpose statement and get a final version by early next week.
  1. New Action Items
    1. Web site.  Dave Brown will contact Stew Thornley regarding getting YP information on the AWWA MN Section web site.

 

  1. Schedule Next MeetingYP.  The next meeting is scheduled for 7:00 a.m., Friday June 25, 2004 at Maria’s Café in Minneapolis.
