Due to the continued absence of Drew Hess, Chris
Glassing appointed Brad Forester as interim secretary for the remainder
of his term as Chair.

A.
Facility Tours
1)
DeZurik / Cold Springs Brewery Tour - The committee continued
discussion of organizing a dual facility tour of DeZurik and Cold Springs
Brewery. A possible date in July was
discussed. Todd Butz was
supposed to contact DeZurik to determine possible tour dates and coordinate
with the Social Committee. Todd was not
present to give an update.
2)
Minneapolis UF Plant
The committee discussed touring the plant despite the limited access. It was decided to move forward with a
tour. Chris Glassing will be
calling a committee member to ask them to coordinate the setting up of a tour
with the City of Minneapolis.
3)
Other Ideas - Brian Zinnel mentioned that the Blaine
plant will be under process equipment construction throughout the summer. He will follow up with the City of Blaine to
ask for possible tours/visits. John
Chlebeck mentioned that the New Brighton WWTF will be adding a granular
activated carbon contactor. He will
follow up with the City of New Brighton to inquire about possible tours/visits.
B.
Community Service Project
1)
Water Tower Competition No movement.
2)
World of Water Poster Competition Chris Glassing said that Brent Massmann and Aleisha
Kiley have volunteered to spearhead the poster competition. Brian Zinnel said that he has a
contact at Xcel Energy that may provide some ideas. He will provide the contact information to Brent and Aleisha.
C.
Social Event
1)
Brewery Tour, sponsored by YP - The Cold Spring Brewery
tour will be hold in conjunction with the DeZurik facilities tour. See above.
2)
Annual Conference Social sponsored by YP - Jeff Yeschick
attended an AWWA function during the YP meeting but was able to provide a
report upon arriving for the social gathering.
Jeff received positive feedback regarding YP sponsoring a social after
the banquet. Jeff will provide a
complete report at our next meeting.
D.
Policies & Procedures update
1)
Draft Guidance Document The document was not voted on
as planned, however it will be voted on for approval at the next meeting.

Sub-Committee Reports
1)
Membership (Todd Butz) No
report
2)
Social (Brian Zinnel) See above notes regarding the Cold
Spring Brewery tour.
3)
Public Affairs (Drew Hess) No
report
4)
Fresh Ideas (Brad Forester) Brad Forester is moving
forward on attempting to initiate a poster competition at the Fall MN AWWA
Conference. Brad will be submitting his
proposal to MAC for their support. Jeff
Yeschick said that the MN AWWA Conference committee was asking YP if
presentation spots will be required for the competition and if so to contact
them as soon as possible. Brad will
work with Jeff on securing the presentation spots. John volunteered to help coordinate the marketing effort with
that of work being done with the membership committee.

New Business

Website updates All YP Committee minutes and upcoming
meeting/events will be posted on the web site from this time forward. The committee discussed posting some photos
from social events and facility tours
so feel free to bring that digital camera
of yours.

Announcements and
Next Meeting
-
We welcome Ruth Alkons Wolinsky to the YP
Committee. Ruth attended the University
of Pittsburgh for her undergraduate and has a masters degree in Environmental
Engineering from UNC-Chapel Hill. Ruth
is currently employed in the wastewater planning group at CH2M Hill.

Thanks to Brian Zinnel for setting up the social
at the Operators Conference following the YP meeting. It was a great success and it was proven once again that signs
that read Free Beer are extremely effective at drawing in a crowd.
-
Next meeting will be approximately two weeks prior to
the DeZurik / Cold Spring Brewery Tour.
The time and location are yet to be determined.
