Meeting Minutes

 

  1. Sign in and Introductions
    1. Attendees:       Dave Brown, Pat Shea, Jeff Yeschick, Chris Glassing, Brian Zinnel, Bill Spain, Scott Anderson, Todd Butz, and Brad Forester.
  2. Agenda revised and approved. Motion Chris Glassing, Second Pat Shea.
  3. Reviewed and approved distributed minutes from July 2005 meeting.  Motion Chris Glassing, Second Dave Brown.
  4. Unfinished Business
    1. 2004/2005 action items. 

                                                               i.      Host 3 or 4 facility tours per year. 

1.      Two tours completed this year.

2.      Proposed Cold Springs Brewery tour. Pat Shea will coordinate with Cold Spring Brewery.  Pat has a brochure drafted and we will send it out in PDF format to MN Section members when a date has been finalized.  We are going to try for a Wednesday tour, if possible.

                                                             ii.      Create a presence at the MN Section conference for young professionals.  

1.      Events

a.       Annual YP committee meeting and Annual Conference Meet and Greet

                                                                                                                                       i.      Meet and Greet scheduled for October 6, 2005 from 4-6 pm.

                                                          iii.      Community service project

1.      New project idea.

a.       Water Tower Competition.  Todd will get in contact with Drew Hess to push this project forward, and will provide a status update at next meeting. 

                                                           iv.      Host four social events per year plus the MN Section conference meet and greet. 

1.      Two social events completed.

 

  1. 2005/2006 action items
    1. YP Committee budget and action items for 2006 Budget:

                                                               i.      YP Meet and Greet at Annual Conference - $400 ($300 last year)

                                                             ii.      Host four social events - $100 per event, total $400

                                                            iii.      Host three facility tours - $0

                                                           iv.      Host one water tower model competition - $200

                                                             v.      Publicize Young Professionals Committee - $100

                                                           vi.      Total budget = $1100

    1. MN Section Board approved our budget.
  1. New Business
    1. Nominations/Election of YP Chair

                                                               i.      Dave Brown nominated Chris Glassing for YP Chair. 

                                                             ii.      By vote, Chris was unanimously elected YP Chair.

                                                            iii.      Todd Butz volunteered to serve as Secretary/Treasurer.

    1. Policies & Procedures Ad Hoc Committee

i.    Discussed creating an Ad Hoc Committee to come up with Policies and procedures for YP committee. Items to be reviewed are officer positions, length of terms and responsibilities associated with positions. Chris Glassing and Dave Brown will be members of this committee.  Ad Hoc Committee will report to the YP committee and make recommendations for new policies and procedures.

    1. Section chair invitations

                                                               i.      YP committee chair will invite chairs of MN section committees to come to a YP meeting. Intent is to get more involvement by YP members in other section committees.

    1. Fresh Ideas Program – Chris talked about implementing the fresh ideas program in Minnesota.
    2. Upcoming socials and facility tours

                                                               i.      Brewery tour – set date and send flyer.

  1. Action Items (10 min)
    1. Dave

                                                               i.      Contact Jon Eaton to see if we can send our brewery tour notice to all MN Section members.  Can that be in the monthly email?

                                                             ii.      Contact Stew Thornley/Jon Eaton regarding Drinking Water Institute contacts.  This will be a good place to start publicizing the Water Tower Competition.

    1. Pat

                                                               i.      Coordinate a date with Cold Springs Brewery for tour.  Notify YP committee when date has been set so e-mail flier can be sent.
